Hello you wonderful Yuletide writer!
Hi! As you might be able to tell from my sign up, I'm a bit shy with sexually graphic material (I felt like I was getting really redundant, so I hope it didn't come across as rude at all). I would prefer no underage sex in any of the fandoms, please (though I'm pretty sure I didn't nominate any fandoms with underage main characters now that I'm thinking about it), and no really graphic violence. I'm okay with some violence, just more PG-13 soft R rather than anything really horrific.
Any of the fandoms I requested will be a very happily accepted gift. Each of them is a favorite of mine, and I'll be wildly curious to see what you come up with for them.
-Brigadoon - I've loved this musical since I was in kindergarten. Jeff and Fiona are so wonderfully smitten with one another, but will the Miracle continue to work as the centuries pass? What happens when they wake up the next day in the twenty-first century? In a week they'll be in the twenty-seventh century. On the flip side, what's poor Jeff up to? He's left with a drinking problem and an inability to deal with reality. Can we get a glimpse of him at all? Play with any or all of these as you like.
-The Mysteries of Harris Burdick - These drawings are so weirdly haunting. I love Allsburg's work in general, but having these stand on their own or in the context of the background in the introduction (you can use that or not as you want) really caught my attention. Pick any one or more of these and just play.
-Groundhog Day - Again, another beloved movie, but I was always left with the question of "What just happened here?" How did the time loop begin? Is there some weird connection to one of the characters like the homeless man or the groundhog himself? Was it the storm? Did Phil do something weird? Was anyone else experiencing the same thing as Phil, or had it happened before somewhere else or to someone else? I really have no idea.
-Jaws - I love Quint. There are so many layers to his character, from the surface cheerful drunk to that weird moment we see his shadow silhouetted against the sky like something not quite of this earth. Who is this guy?
-The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance - I was happily flabbergasted by this in the sense that so much of this story is about and told by female characters: heroes, villains, ones who survive and who don't. Deet is just... she's great. I love her sense of humor and her loyalty. I've loved Aughra since I saw the original movie when I was kid. And Hup? Oh, was I nervous about him when he was introduced, terrified he was the Jar-Jar of Thra, and he completely proved me wrong and became a character I really liked. You can play with any or all of them that you choose.
Midsummer Night's Dream - My attention always goes to the fairies in this. Oberon gets a lot of attention for being so into playing tricks on the humans and even Titania, but I always had the sense that she had more than a few tricks up her shimmering sleeves as well. She might want a bit of revenge for that whole thing with Bottom, and she strikes me as every bit as powerful as Oberon. Or maybe she has her own mortal favorites to while away the time. Or maybe something else entirely.
My main advice here for you is to have fun. Thank you for whatever you're going to create, and I'm looking forward to seeing it!
Meltha
P.S. You can see some of my fic by looking through AO3 or using the fic tag on this journal if you think that might give you an idea.
